Summer 2007 - 2008

John Humphries arrived back in New Zealand at the begining of the summer and got stuck in to his aerobatic rating which he now holds. In addition he set out with Wayne Carpenter to fly to as many diferent airfields as possible. Together they visited Whangarei, Dargaville, Raglan, Te Kowhai, Hamilton, Thames, Tauranga, Whitianga, Rotorua and Paeroa. We've been everywhere man! John also managed to sell his leather condom and headset and purchased a Cambell Clasic Hard Hat on Trade Me. Once the black hair dye left in it from the previous owner wears off John will no longer be known as the man with the black forehead. Next summer John and Wayne plan to do a tour of the South Island coinsiding with Omaka Airshow. John departs for the UK in mid May and will suffer Nanchang withdrawal symptoms for the next six months.

Mark Menzies has been very active in the syndicate as the following shows:

3/2/08 – 11/2/08

Flew to the Nationals in Timaru with Margaret with fuel/comfort stops in New Plymouth, Wanganui and Kaikoura. Competed in the Cory Wright Cup competition for intermediate aerobatics. The Nanchang created much curiosity featuring in both the Timaru Courier and the Timaru Herald. A highlight of the week was a day trip to Omarama for lunch via the Waitaki River and returning via the McKenzie Pass. Landing at Omarama was interesting with at least 30 gliders on the ground and several in the air with 3 tow planes continuously operating. While in Timaru Mark conducted several flights with Young Eagles between competitions. On the return to North Shore we overnighted in Omaka after refuelling in Kaikoura. The next day Mark did an aerobatic flight before our final leg home via Wanganui.
